What the term means
A varicocele describes enlarged veins within the scrotum. It can be found without symptoms or while investigating discomfort or fertility.
A finding is not an automatic reason for surgery
Its significance depends on examination, symptoms and reproductive goals. A clinician may consider further tests when appropriate.
Discuss your own situation
Ask whether observation is suitable, what benefit a procedure might offer and what follow-up would involve. Outcomes vary. Sudden severe testicular pain requires urgent care and should not be assumed to be a varicocele.
