FAQs

A clearer understanding starts with a question.

Find straightforward answers to common concerns. Your own diagnosis and treatment still require individual evaluation.

General urology

What does a urologist treat?
A urologist assesses the urinary tract in men, women and children, as well as male reproductive health. This includes kidney stones, bladder symptoms, urine-flow problems and certain fertility or sexual-health concerns.
When should I see a urologist?
Persistent urinary symptoms, repeated infections, blood in urine, stone concerns or changes in reproductive health are reasons to seek advice. Sudden severe symptoms need urgent medical assessment.
Does blood in urine always mean something serious?
There are several possible causes, including infection and stones. Visible blood should be checked promptly, even if it happens once or without pain. Heavy bleeding, clots or difficulty passing urine need urgent care.

Kidney stones

Can kidney stones pass naturally?
Some small stones can pass without a procedure. Size, position, symptoms, infection and kidney function affect what is safe. A clinician should advise on observation and follow-up.
When does a kidney stone need surgery?
A procedure may be considered for obstruction, persistent symptoms, stones unlikely to pass or other clinical reasons. Fever with urinary symptoms or uncontrolled pain needs urgent assessment.
What is RIRS?
Retrograde intrarenal surgery uses a flexible scope passed through the urinary tract to reach a stone inside the kidney. It is one possible option; suitability depends on the individual assessment.
What is PCNL?
Percutaneous nephrolithotomy accesses the kidney through a small opening in the back to remove stones. It may be considered for selected larger or more complex stones.
What is URSL?
Ureteroscopic lithotripsy uses a scope to reach and break a stone, usually in the ureter. Your doctor can explain whether it is appropriate and whether a temporary stent may be needed.

Urinary & prostate health

Why is my urine flow becoming weaker?
Possible causes include prostate enlargement, urethral narrowing or bladder-function problems. Symptoms alone cannot identify the cause. Seek immediate care if you cannot pass urine.
What causes frequent urination?
Fluid and caffeine intake, infection, bladder conditions and other medical problems can contribute. A review of symptoms, medicines and suitable tests can help explain the change.
What causes difficulty passing urine?
A blockage or a problem with bladder function may be involved. The doctor may assess urine flow and emptying. Sudden inability to urinate needs emergency assessment.

Sexual wellness

Are sexual-health consultations confidential?
Sensitive concerns are approached with respect for privacy. You can keep your initial appointment message general and discuss details during the consultation. Ask the clinic how it handles confidential communication.
When should men seek help for sexual-health concerns?
Consider a consultation when a change persists, causes distress or affects daily life or relationships. Assessment can help identify physical, emotional or combined contributors.

Male infertility

When should a man consider fertility evaluation?
Both partners should be considered when conception is delayed. Seek advice after a year of trying, or earlier with known concerns or an older female partner. Your clinician can guide the timing.
Can male infertility be treated?
Some causes can be addressed; others may need assisted reproduction or further investigation. Options depend on findings in both partners, and treatment cannot guarantee pregnancy.
What is varicocele?
A varicocele is an enlargement of veins in the scrotum. It may cause no symptoms. Its relevance to discomfort or fertility needs individual evaluation; not everyone needs surgery.
What are PESA, MESA, TESA and TESE?
These are different sperm-retrieval techniques. PESA and MESA access the epididymis; TESA and TESE access the testis. They are considered in specific fertility situations, not as routine tests for everyone.

Appointments

What should I bring to my first consultation?
Bring relevant prescriptions, a medication and allergy list, previous laboratory reports and scan images with reports. A short symptom timeline and written questions can help.
Do I need previous scan reports?
Bring any relevant scans you already have, ideally both the images and the written reports. You do not need to arrange new scans solely to make an appointment unless a clinician advises them.
How do I book an appointment?
Call +91 72598 30152 or complete the appointment request and send the prepared message in WhatsApp. The clinic must confirm availability. Preparing or sending a request does not confirm a slot.
Where is the clinic and what are the timings?
MUSIC is in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Consultation hours are Monday–Friday, 6:00–8:00 PM IST. Please call for the confirmed address and directions, and confirm your appointment before travelling.
Should I use the appointment form for an emergency?
No. Seek immediate emergency care for severe pain, fever with urinary symptoms, inability to urinate, heavy urinary bleeding or sudden significant testicular pain. Do not wait for a website or WhatsApp response.

You don’t have to keep guessing what the symptom means.

Whether the concern is painful, persistent or difficult to talk about, start with a conversation about what is happening and what to do next.
